Vendors Must Effectively Extend the Print Infrastructure to the Mobile Worker

(Weymouth, MA) June 28, 2012...Market Pulse is a series of research deliverables used by InfoTrends to monitor the global office document marketplace. InfoTrends has recently taken the pulse of Central and Eastern Europe (Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, and Russia) to create a market snapshot of the region as well as identify differences and similarities within these countries.

InfoTrends’ Market Pulse 2012: Central and Eastern Europe, a survey of 611 IT decision-makers in Central and Eastern Europe, indicates that there is an increase in the number of remote or mobile knowledge workers in these areas. This increase has led to a shift in the way businesses are printing documents as well as priorities for future document solution planning.

Polish (56%) and Russian (66%) respondents were most likely to say their numbers of remote/mobile knowledge workers are increasing, while Czech and Polish respondents were most likely to be thinking and planning for a solution for printing from mobile/handheld devices (41% and 49% respectively). As the office extends to a wider range of work locations, and businesses find themselves supporting a diverse range of mobile platforms, it is becoming critical that vendors effectively extend the print infrastructure to the mobile worker. “All vendors and channel players should focus on installing the software and solutions necessary to enable mobile workers to print from mobile devices, particularly in these countries”, said Zac Butcher, Director of InfoTrends’ Digital Peripherals Solutions Consulting Service.” If vendors do not do so, then they risk the chance of workers establishing new behaviors that do not involve printing.”

How would you characterize your company’s outlook for future remote-mobile knowledge workers in the next 12 months?

Market Pulse 2012: Central and Eastern Europe is part of the Market Pulse Report Series. The research profiles IT decision-makers from 18 countries in 6 key regions to identify areas of opportunity and growth for hardware, software, and supplies products and services. Around 150 IT decision-makers from each of the identified countries are asked questions focused on current hardware mix, future purchase plans, paper volumes, supplies usage and preferences, as well as hot button topics such as mobile technology and green. The results of the research will assist office document technology vendors and suppliers in developing targeted go-to-market strategies.

Market Pulse covers the following regions and countries:
